MOV is Apple's QuickTime container, and it's what iPhones, iPads and Macs save videos and screen recordings as. MP4 is the same kind of container with wider support: Windows, Android, smart TVs, video editors and most websites expect it. The video inside is often identical, which is why a good converter doesn't need to re-encode anything when the codec already fits.
This tool checks what's inside your MOV first. H.264 video (screen recordings, older iPhones, many cameras) is rewrapped into an MP4 in seconds, with the picture and sound untouched. iPhone videos recorded in High Efficiency use HEVC, which some devices can't play, so by default those are re-encoded to H.264. If you only need an .mp4 file for an Apple device or a modern PC, choose Keep original codec and it's done in seconds too.
Fast when it can be, compatible when it has to be.
When the video is already H.264, it's copied into an MP4 container instead of re-encoded. No quality loss and no waiting.
iPhone High Efficiency videos are converted to H.264, the format every Windows PC, Android phone and website accepts.
iPhones record HDR video by default. When it's re-encoded, it's tone-mapped to standard range so it doesn't look washed out on other screens.
The audio track comes along. AAC audio is copied as-is; anything MP4 can't carry is converted to AAC.
The video is processed on your own device. Useful for family clips, work recordings and anything you'd rather not hand to a server.
Portrait iPhone videos stay portrait. Extra tracks that MP4 doesn't support, such as iPhone camera metadata, are left out.
From an iPhone or QuickTime video to an MP4 that plays anywhere.
Drag it in or click to browse. AirDropped, emailed and iCloud-downloaded videos all work, up to 100 MB.
Plays everywhere is the safe default. Keep original codec is fastest if the video is only going to Apple devices or a recent PC.
Watch the preview, then save the MP4. It keeps the original file name.
