Lively alternatives for exporting existing Live Photos

If you already have a Live Photo and want a GIF or video, start with that direction of conversion. Lively exports existing Live Photos; Liveify’s native creation workflow starts from a video. Apple Photos also offers Save as Video, so installing another app may be unnecessary for a straightforward video copy.

Use Apple Photos as the video-export baseline

Apple’s support article, “How to turn a Live Photo into a video on your iPhone,” describes the built-in route. In Photos, find Live Photos under Media Types, select the asset, open the More menu and choose Save as Video. Apple says the new video appears in Recently Saved while the original remains in the Live Photos album.

That baseline matters if your only goal is sharing a movie copy. Start there before choosing a new editor or subscription. If sound matters, listen to the exported file and check it in the destination app. This guide does not report an audio comparison, a measured export time or an identical result across iOS versions.

Keep Lively when the GIF needs deliberate editing

A GIF for a chat may need a shorter moment, smaller dimensions or a different playback rhythm. Lively lists trimming, reverse playback, automatic reverse, speed controls and size adjustment. Those controls are a specific reason to keep it even if Photos already handles your ordinary video copies. Save as Video is not evidence of an equivalent GIF editor.

Lively also advertises extracting a single frame from the moving portion with the original metadata. This can be useful when the preferred expression falls between still frames you first noticed. The source does not substitute for checking the saved image and required metadata fields. We have not independently confirmed metadata fidelity or compared frame quality.

Compare the same source and the intended destination

For your own check, start from one original Live Photo and retain it. Make a video copy in Photos, then use Lively if GIF adjustments or frame extraction are needed. Review the exported file for the selected moment, motion, dimensions and visible watermark. Test sharing in the actual receiving app rather than judging only the editor preview.

These steps are a proposed comparison method, not a completed experiment. A smaller file may suit a message attachment, while a different export may suit another destination. Decide what the recipient needs before selecting a format. Keeping the original also lets you revisit the edit without treating a derived GIF or movie as the original resource.

Do not reverse the reason for switching

Liveify’s published native flow selects a video, trims it, chooses a cover and creates a Live Photo on iPhone. Its browser video page is only a preview and requires selecting the source again in the app. Neither description establishes a replacement for Lively’s existing-Live-Photo export controls. Cloud AI creates new motion from still images and is another separate task.

The October 13, 2026 US snapshot records Lively 3.4 with iOS 13.0 minimum and Liveify 1.14 with iOS 17.0. Lively describes a single purchase for watermark removal; the current amount is unverified. If its controls and purchase structure fit your use, retaining it is reasonable. A native creation subscription is not an automatic improvement for an export-only user.
