A CapCut alternative when your goal is a Live Photo

A search for a CapCut alternative can mean replacing a video editor or finishing a much smaller task. This guide covers the second case: turning a prepared video into a native Live Photo on iPhone. For captions, layered edits and social videos, CapCut’s broader toolset still matters.

Choose the next step

  1. Compose or edit

Combine clips, retouch a portrait, add captions or control motion in your editor.

  2. Prepared video

    What file do you need?

  3. Create a Live Photo

Select the video in Liveify on iPhone, trim it, choose a cover and save.

Where a focused alternative makes sense

Suppose you have a portrait video of a pet and only want a short moving photo. Building a layered edit may not be part of your task at all. Liveify’s published iPhone flow—select a video, trim, choose a cover, save a native Live Photo—matches that narrower goal.

For a narrated tutorial with captions, cuts, stabilized footage and background removal, the comparison changes. CapCut lists those editing capabilities. This guide does not establish Liveify as a replacement for them. Choose the editor around the work needed before export, then choose the output workflow around where the result will be used.

A video export and a Live Photo are different destinations

CapCut’s US listing advertises video export up to 4K at 60 fps and HDR. These are useful video specifications, but they do not establish native Live Photo saving to the iPhone Photos library. We did not find evidence for that operation in the sources used for this guide; that is an unknown, not a claim that CapCut cannot support it in any version.

A template or page described as a live wallpaper should be read in the same way: look for the actual output format and saving instructions. A moving preview or ordinary video file is not evidence of native Live Photo delivery. Liveify’s iPhone listing explicitly describes that native saving workflow.

A practical two-app workflow

If you need CapCut’s editing tools, finish the composition there and export a video to your iPhone. Then choose that exported file in Liveify, select the moment and cover you want, and use the app’s native Live Photo saving flow. This is a suggested handoff based on the advertised functions, not a measured compatibility test.

Keep the original project and the exported video until you have the result you want. An exported file is the handoff; a CapCut project is not the input described by Liveify’s video workflow. Revise the composition in the editor, and revise the selected moment and cover in the Live Photo workflow.

If you begin on Liveify’s website instead, remember that its video page only previews the clip. You still need to choose the source file again in the iPhone app. The web preview accepts browser-playable video up to 100 MB and previews a trim up to 10 seconds; those limits do not describe native app export capabilities.

Choose by output, device and paid features

For a social post delivered as a video, CapCut’s editing and video export may already complete the job. For a native Live Photo, investigate the saving step specifically. For wallpaper, also check the current iPhone and iOS requirements: neither a 4K export specification nor a moving preview guarantees wallpaper behavior.

In the October 13 US snapshot, CapCut 19.7.0 lists iOS 15.0 as its minimum and Liveify 1.14 lists iOS 17.0. Both are free to install, but that does not compare paid feature access. Review the actual export or AI tool offer before committing to it.

Liveify describes device-side video conversion, while its cloud AI sends images to the server. CapCut offers a broad mix of features; the sources here do not establish a per-operation local-versus-cloud comparison. For sensitive material, review the privacy information for the specific feature rather than treating either entire app as one processing mode.

Common questions

Can Liveify replace CapCut for editing?

This guide only recommends considering Liveify for focused Live Photo creation. It does not establish replacement support for CapCut’s multi-track editing, captions or keyframes.

Can I use CapCut and Liveify together?

The proposed handoff is an exported video: edit in CapCut, save the video on iPhone, then select it in Liveify. This is based on published capabilities, not a tested end-to-end performance claim.

Does a CapCut live wallpaper template prove Live Photo export?

No. A template name does not identify the saved file format. Check the export and Photos-saving instructions for the exact feature and version you use.
