HEIC · HEIF · ≤ 50 · ≤ 100 MB
JPG throws away a little detail every time it is saved. That's fine for sharing, but if you're going to edit, crop, annotate or layer a photo, those small losses add up. PNG is lossless: once the HEIC is decoded, every pixel is written exactly as it is, and the file won't degrade no matter how often you open and re-save it.
The trade-off is size. A 12 MP photo can come out at 15–25 MB as PNG, several times larger than the JPG, and 48 MP shots get much bigger still. Use PNG when you need the pixels untouched, such as for design files, print layouts or screenshots of documents, and JPG when you just need the photo to open somewhere.
No extra compression, no upload.
PNG stores the decoded pixels exactly, so editing and re-saving never stacks up compression artifacts.
PNG imports cleanly into Figma, Photoshop, Canva, Keynote and slide decks, with no JPG blocking around text or sharp edges.
