A Meitu alternative for focused Live Photo creation

Searching for a Meitu alternative can mean replacing a broad editor or completing one Live Photo task. Meitu advertises portrait retouching, object removal, filters, collages and video editing. Liveify may fit focused creation from a prepared video or still image, but that does not establish a replacement for Meitu’s editing suite.

Choose the next step

  1. Compose or edit

Combine clips, retouch a portrait, add captions or control motion in your editor.

  2. Prepared video

    What file do you need?

  3. Create a Live Photo

Select the video in Liveify on iPhone, trim it, choose a cover and save.

Separate preserving a memory from creating movement

An existing Live Photo contains a moment you recorded. A still portrait sent to an animation model becomes the starting point for newly generated movement. Those goals should not be merged under a promise to make photos live. Decide whether the original motion and sound are essential before selecting an editing or generation tool.

For example, removing an unwanted object from a portrait is an appearance edit. Making that portrait move is another operation. Meitu’s US listing documents broad appearance tools, while Liveify describes adding motion to a still image. Neither description proves that a particular retouching operation preserves every component of an existing native Live Photo.

Check the still and moving parts after a retouch

If you are editing a captured Live Photo, retain the original and check the exported asset in Photos. Compare the resting cover with playback: does the requested appearance remain consistent, does the asset still play, and is the sound you wanted present? These questions identify the result you need without assuming how an editor handles the input.

This guide contains no current device test showing Meitu keeping or discarding those components. Missing detail in a US description is not proof of unsupported functionality. A regional tutorial or screenshot may also describe a different feature or version. Verify the exact operation you plan to use rather than extrapolating from a general photo-editing label.

Choose a handoff that matches the finished material

If your Meitu work produces a finished video, a proposed handoff is to save that file on iPhone and select it in Liveify. Trim the desired segment, choose its cover and use the native saving flow. This suggestion follows the published capabilities; it is not an end-to-end compatibility result or proof that original metadata survives.

For a finished still image, Liveify’s web AI route uploads the image, requires sign-in and credits, and downloads a .livp bundle needing a compatible importer. Its browser video preview is different: it does not create a downloadable Live Photo and requires selecting the original video again on iPhone. Choose between these routes before beginning.

Keep broad editing tools when you still need them

Meitu’s advertised filters, object removal, background changes, collages and video retouching are reasons to retain it. If those edits are most of your work, replacing the editor solely for a final output format may add steps. Using a focused creator for a separate finished file may be the more relevant comparison.

The October 13, 2026 US snapshot lists Meitu 12.17.0 at iOS 13.0 minimum and Liveify 1.14 at iOS 17.0. Common questions

Does Meitu preserve Live Photos after retouching?

The sources used here do not settle that for a specific edit, version and output. Check both the resting image and moving component on the saved result.

Can AI recreate the original captured motion?

Generated movement is a new interpretation of a still image. It should not be presented as restoration of the original recorded moment.

Is Liveify a full Meitu replacement?

This comparison supports considering it for focused Live Photo creation. It does not establish equivalent portrait, collage, object-removal or video beauty tools.
